How It's Been in 2010!

I must say it is a lot harder to start blogging once you haven't posted in a bigillion years. First semester has quickly come to an end and many new memories have been formed. It is mind boggling to think that I'll be graduating in the spring. It's adult life for me.. I might have to start acting like a grown up and I must say, that's pretty intimidating. For the time being I'm deciding to focus on the here and now and enjoy the time I have with my friends and college family.

I have thoroughly enjoyed how Keegan, Jason, Ruben, Preston, Daniel, and I's relationship has continued to grow. I love these kids. We started off the semester trying to act out the Shakespeare's play, Much Ado About Nothing. It was a valiant effort. We are better than Shakespeare anyway. =P As shown in our last post we visited the beach... We've continued teaching Sunday school... And done MANY MANY MANY MANY more extremely riveting events that would blow your mind if I described them.. So we will just skip that part.

Pictures speak thousands of words anyway, right?

Halloween- This year we had the opportunity to really demonstrate our pumpkin carving skills. Keegan, being Batman, naturally created her sign.

Keegan was a loooooovely lady bug for Halloween.

My best friend Ruben and I switched identities for a night.
He was me and I was him. =]

Many people said I pull off a beard really well.. I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing. =]

We had a SNOW DAY!
Even though we didn't have that much snow, school was still canceled and joy filled the air.

I know this isn't the best picture to put up here... but... It makes me laugh every time.

We just so happen to have a lot of foreign exchange students on campus who just so happen to smoke a lot... who also just so happen to be extremely fascinated by snowmen. This is the result.

Keegan and I like to climb on each other's shoulders when hanging out. It's what we do.

Keegan is still basketballing it up. She of course is doing AWESOME!!! All of us are extremely proud of her and envy her incredible skills.

Preston was so enthusiastic about Keegan's first game that he painted his face. Thanks to those tricky mirrors.. He sported UCN! on his face.. =P NCU... UCN... Close enough.

Preston was actually able to come back with Megan and I to Whidbey Island for the beginning of the break!

Here is an awesome video from the beach a bigillion years ago...
Smoking Snowmen and now this? College sure does change us. =P haha Just Kidding

Hopefully I will get better at blogging again... No promises. =]
Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful Christmas break!

She Sells Seashells By The Sea Shore

We went to the beach last Saturday. It was fun. (<----Haha.. that's all the energy I have to put into the blog at the moment) =]

Unfortunately my camera is missing in action. =/ I'm hoping the ocean didn't swallow it.
I'll try to start up my blogging skills here eventually. First things first I have to get through MIDTERMS!!!!

Pray for us. Miss you all!

Back by popular demand....

Beloved friends, family and fellow humanity:

It has come to my attention that the Keegan&Me community has been rallying for a blog post of epic proportions. A type of blog post that apparently only I can deliver. The time has come.

Actually, if I'm being perfectly honest I have nothing epic to report. Except that I cut my own hair the other morning and it was completely impulsive and kind of a bad idea. Also, I now have an "I heart Oregon" sticker on my car so I feel pretty awesome. That's really all I've got. I'm sorry if I've been a disappointment. Below are some fascinating photos of myself. And a video of Lindsey. The video is much more entertaining than this blog post. Carry on.

Devo It Up!

Today Jesus and I read the book of Habakkuk. I don't normally post my devos but who likes normalcy anyway?

Scripture:

Habakkuk 3:17-19

17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
       though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;

Observation/Application:

Habakkuk early on asks a lot of tough questions (Chapter one: how long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? etc.) He sees the yuckiness in the world and asks God "Why!?" Why does there have to be hurt? Why won't you do anything?

How many times have we ourselves been there? I know I have..
I know I have felt like no matter how many times I cry out for answers or action I still can get nothing. What I love about reading Habakkuk is that we get to see God's answer to Habakkuk's many questions.

Habakkuk 1:2 says "How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?" God responds in chapter 1 verse 5, "Look at the nations and watch- and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told."

HOW INCREDIBLE!! God is going to move in ways that I/We can't even fathom. Although this world can get extremely tough and often doesn't make sense we must keep "our eyes focused on His beautiful eyes and let our hearts beat to the rhythm of His heart" (lyrics from I Adore You- Phil Wickham). For his promises are EVERLASTING! He wants to do powerful, awesome things in your lives. We must hold on and continue to walk in faith towards this inconceivable movement he has in store. I really do believe this is true for you guys. God wants to move today, right now in our lives and all we need to do is be open to it. We don't need to understand it completely or even necessarily agree... we just need to give the direction of our lives over to Him because he cares for us.

As verses 17-19 says:

17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
       though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;

Although we may not be able to always see movement, we will continue to press in to know Him.
When there is NO evidence of God moving; all the sheep and cattle are gone, no food in sight, and no buds of life... We will patiently wait on Him because he is our strength. How much comfort there is in having hope/life in someone who is so much bigger than yourself and CARES for you even when you complain, ask Him the tough questions, or simply ignore him.

I will wait patiently through hard times because I know He is there and that he has promised action! My God is great and his promises concrete.

Prayer:

Father, thank you so much! You are so glorious! I thank you that even in hard times I can trust you to pull through! You ARE my strength and I lean and trust in you. Let me never forget that you are at work even when I can not see. All I got to do is keep following in your steps. I wait upon you and the promises you have for my life. I love you so much.

Post Surgery

I have survived! My surgery went fine.. The recovery has been a bit painful but I'm surviving. The side affects of my drugs give me bad headaches and made me throw up the first time I took them but my body is starting to adjust to them.
My family videotaped me right after my surgery. I was pretty awake and set on my acting face right away. My sister asked me to reenact the Unicorn video I showed on my blog earlier.  I agreed and the camera started rolling. I think I should have posted the video when I was full of drugs but now that I am more coherent (barely) I have reviewed the video and have decided NOT to post it. I'm sorry. It is reeeeaaalllllllly embarrassing. Normally I would be fine posting it but not this time. If you want to see the video in person I might be more up to it. =] We shall see as time goes on.

I'm back at school in 5 DAYS!!!! Woot woot!!!

Battlefields!

A couple times Janelle and I power walked a 3.2 mile path through the battlefields of Gettysburg! I must tell you.. Walking them for the first time in the dark was pretty scary. We couldn't see anything.. It probably wasn't the smartest idea we have had.

All these pictures were from the very beginning of our walk... We should of called it a night and not gone.. but we we determined.

This video is embarrassing... but I just care about you guys so much that I will share it with you.

See you all soon!!!!

Take me out to the ball game!

Man, I once again have to get out all my posting energy and post again.
Last week Ryan, Kelly, Joe Joe and I went to an Orioles baseball game. They even won against the Twins! That was fun.. Oh my goodness though! It was so extremely hot. I actually did melt. It was quite ridiculous.

Nice Thinkin', Lincoln!!

Nathan, my cute little adoptive brother/nephew, here is such a Ham... He just celebrated his 2 year old birthday last Sunday. It has been a joy seeing him learn new things and trying to pronounce Janelle and I's names. Haha.. He hasn't quite got them yet. When he first tried to say Janelle's name.. some how we ended up with "Nani." After some coaching  he has gotten to "Nel." Janelle... Nel... Close enough.. However, he still struggles with Lindsey. My name always comes out as LINCOLN. =] It's rather funny. I think it's because his dogs name is Duncan and he calls his favorite stuffed monkey Munkin. So I guess I will take Lincoln if it means I am like his best friend and favorite not as his dog and monkey. He is such a cutie and I will for sure miss him!

The next morning after this video was taken something really cute happened. I was down stairs getting breakfast and he was shouting "LINCOLN!!! LINCOLN!!! LINCOLN!!!!" No longer do I have to ask what my name is but he can call me by name now. Oh man, right when I'm about to leave and everything.

New Adventures

Since being away from home I have seen and experienced a lot of cool things. These are just some of many wonderful things I have encountered

- Seeing Fireflies for the first time!!
- Seeing a real life skunk just a few feet away at summer camp.
- Seeing a fox (Roadkill... but that's besides the point =])
-Watching bats dive bomb people at summer camp.
- I learned that this symbol:

Is NOT Northwest Christian University's logo but rather North Carolina University's. =/
I feel like my whole college life has been a lie. =p

         <----- NCU's logo...

- Being around wise people and having mentors is a fabulous thing
- God is my confidence... even when I don't feel it.
- I'm in love with a somewhat bald, extremely adorable little boy...
                                                              BABY HENRY!

- Hearing the stories and advice of older generations is extravagant and so valuable.
-Getting to meet the secretary to Eisenhower and someone who saw Hitler in her school assembly
-I can truly trust God in all circumstances because he works for my good... Why would I not trust him?
- I have family all around... west coast, east coast, oversees...
-I never thought that 90ish degree weather would be considered comfortable and cool.
- I air conditioning ... A LOT!

Hmmm... There are so many more but they escape me at the moment.
I've enjoyed my time here immensely and it's actually really hurting to leave. I never felt this way really before.. When ever I think about leaving my chest tightens up and I get this gross weird feeling.. I think they call it stressed. I feel like I have this constant battle inside of me. I'm so excited to be home and go back to school and see friends and family but at the same time I'm really dreading saying goodbye to people here. I have made new friends and family in just my short 3 month stay and I'm really hurting by the fact that we must part ways. Part of me wants to just hop on the airplane, shut my eyes tightly, take off and then pretend like none of what I have experienced happened. Haha.. I know it's a silly idea and I would never want to forget all that I have learned and seen but sometimes it sure does seem easiest. I've learned with going and leaving school and here that I stink at goodbyes.. (haha.. No duh... can you tell?

Anyway! Enough about that! I'm home in 2 days!!!! Oh goodness.. my heart just skipped a beat! I can't wait to see you all and create even more adventures!

I love you even if you go to Sun Lakes and Mount Rainier without me. =P

Wanna get away?

So a long time ago (2 weeks ish ago) Janelle, Rachael and I headed to Delaware to spend a day on the beach. I'm really too lazy to write so I quickly pasted some video footage together for you guys instead. =]

I hope all is well!
